Antique sterling and pine

Question for the experts on sterling. I have a goblet that I am giving as a wedding gift and I have it in a presentation/storage box that is made from pine. Is this going to accelerate tarnish on the piece or be otherwise detrimental?
I still have some work yet to do on it, like taking care of the holes from the old clasp, but if a pine box is a terrible idea I can abort mission now rather than after finishing it.

That looks great. If you seal the wood with a couple of coats of polyurethane or varnish, it should be fine. If they don't like it, give it to me.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Thanks, here's what the box started life as. I bought some better hardware for it from Menards.

Yep... As @PerryHall suggested, coats of polyurethane clear sealer will do the job. Really nice silver goblet....... Cheers, RickO
