PCGS rattler Ikes

I've got a couple of 40% Ike Dollars graded way back during the days of the rattler holders. They're graded MS65 but could grade like, MS67 today.
Could CAC award the gold sticker on these and would they bring more than they should simply because of the golden sticker??

People pay more for the sticker yes.
CAC Ikes are not common. CAC Ikes in rattlers are less common. Gold CAC Ikes in rattlers are even less common.
Seems logical, Cladiator.
And to add to this for every twenty "S" mint silver Ikes in Rattlers there may be one business strike clad Ike in a Rattler.

I just looked it up. In the CAC population, there are (3) silver and (4) non-silver Ikes with gold stickers. The three silver coins are all 63s. The four clad coins are three 63s and a single 65.

Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't no optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.
My mind reader refuses to charge me....
What years do you have? I’m a big rattler collector and would be happy to have a chance to buy them. They have quite a premium being in a rattler…with or without a CAC sticker.
The Gold CAC Clad Ike was mine,,,,,, I "made" it at PCGS & CAC. I sold it about a year ago.
It was a 1971-D,,,,,,, very nice coin.
The coins would definitely command a greater premium with a gold CAC sticker. The odds of getting one are not conducive to a gamble though.... However, your money.... Let us know if you do submit and I wish you good luck. Cheers, RickO
I've been known to say a thread without pics is worthless so as this one needs a bit of help. Don't have any Ike's in rattlers so here's CAC'er...
Someone else needs to post a rattler and a CAC'd rattler![;) ;)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I can't ever remember seeing an Ike in a rattler.
Regards, Ray Charles
thats a first for me as well
I didn't realize there would be any Ike's in rattlers. I thought in the early days PCGS didn't grade anything past 1964.
That was NGC policy.

I WISH I had one in a "rattler."
I would have thought that very few Ikes were valued high enough in the 1980s to justify grading fees then, and explains why so few are in rattlers, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Back in 1986-89 and for many years after that I would Cherry pick high grade blue pack IKE's at shops. I had one guy who would let me pick and I paid him $20 ea which was about 2x the going price,,,,,,,, he thought that I was crazy to pay that for them. I then would submit to PCGS thru SilverTowne in Winchester IN as there were only authorized dealer submissions at that time. I "MADE" a couple hundred in MS67 or better and several dozen in MS68 and (1) 1972-S in MS69 all PCGS.
The dealer I paid $20 ea to was a buddy of mine and when I showed him I was getting over $200 apiece for the MS68's common dates a few years later he could not believe it. 1973-S MS68 I got around $300 ea. I got $1200 ea for about a half dozen of 1976-S IKE's in MS68 over a 2 year period. 1971-S in MS67 was a big money coin also, I made many of those as well.
I sold the MS69 for $8,000 so they were worth the price of submissions. Not all of the big money coins were in rattler holders as I did this for many years. As I recall the MS69 coin was "MADE in April of 2000 as I used part of the money to buy a brand new 2000 Pontiac GrandAm GT car,,,,,, now you know where my "HANDLE" comes from.
I remember spending an afternoon at a shop and going thru over 900 Blue Pack IKE's in one sitting.
As I recall I paid SilverTowne $6 ea for grading. SilverTowne use to let me sit at a table in the back room and go thru blue and red packs,,,,,,, until they started the TV Shopping thing they had.
These were all in rattler holders. When PCGS came out with the Generation 2 holder they had a window where you could get the rattlers reholdered for $2 ea. Due to the fact that I hated seeing my coins turned side ways in the holder I sent all I had for reholdering in the new style slab.
