High eye appeal making up for that tiny ding? But once you see the ding you can't unsee it B)

MS66 does not mean perfect, some marks are to be expected.

MS66 is not MS70. The coin might be unacceptable to you at this level, but PCGS thought otherwise.

I'd think of defects that graders have to consider before assigning a grade. Without that mark it's 67 easily.

@Russell12 - What grade would you give the coin? How did you determine that grade?

I'd be more curious about what looks like a thin scratch going from ICA almost to the rim on the reverse. Could be a thin die crack but can't get a good read on it.

Nothing particularly shocking about the grade. MS-66 ain't perfect. Heck, MS67+ ain't perfect!

    Nice grade for that coin.

What would cause that ding from another coin? It's more likely a strike-thru from metal debris during the stamping/minting process and in my grading standards, I would not count that mark against the grade. It should be up to the collector to make that choice whether it'd be acceptable in a higher grade. And rather, it's for the lack of luster, does not appear to be a lustrous coin for the lack of dark areas in the fields/photo....more obvious reasons for a MS66 grade. And for the overall strike, soft in some details which is common, the left hand, arm, facial details, stars in the shield and so on.
    But not my series.

To add, I'd be more concerned with that long line, possibly a scratch by eagle's wing.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

To me, I think the grade is OK. I don't think it's a stellar 66, but it's certainly better than most coins in 65 holders.
