I picked up this 1940 set in a Capital Holder years ago at a local shop (except for the cent which I purchased at Long Beach last September as an upgrade to the cent in the Capital Holder). I had the proof set graded last year (the replaced cent graded PF62) and am quite pleased with the results.

I also assembled this 6 coin 1942 set coin by coin over the years and had it graded last year.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Well done!!
Very nice, thanks for sharing. Personally, but the spot on the dime would bother me forever

Beautiful. Especially that walker.
Wonderful set, I have been seriously considering putting together a 1940 proof set to go with my 1940 MS set. Looking at yours really motivates me to take that off the back burner and get started.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
A very nice set!

That's a WOW proof set. The quarter and half dollar are especially noteworthy.
That reminds me of a raw 1940 set I had:
Sets like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly because they are often not noteworthy. Since they are worth more usually when slabbed and separated, that’s how they end up. When there are noteworthy coins, the same tends to happen anyways (money talks!).
