They rarely come that way

Post a coin that’s not “normal.”
For my part in the discussion, peace dollars usually don’t tone nicely.

@ctf_error_coins has a lot of those coins that aren't normal! 😂 🤣
Woodgrain IHCs are out of the ordinary.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
A favorite of mine that always seems to evoke emotions from both sides. The blue toning is beautiful in hand!
Frost on any pre-1950 Proof Washington quarter is EXTREMELY uncommon:

I was working on this coin tonight and these don't usually come the way some think.

3.1 D small date. The 2 is a large date, now look at the 8. Posted it because the coin and photo's were handy.
Toned V nickels are a rarity....
@SimonW... You are correct, they do not tarnish nicely... good example. Cheers, RickO

Sadly, not my coin:
21-S Morgans don't come attractive, with frosty luster and a crisply detailed strike.
Keeper of the VAM Catalog • Professional Coin Imaging • Prime Number Set • World Coins in Early America • British Trade Dollars
How about these 2 from the Morgan 'pancake' series with decent strikes.
How are you toning these?
I’m not. Spent a lot of time searching for them. One theory is leather pouch toning. I did try an experiment once where I left several Indian quarter Eagles sandwiched in different types of leather for a year, but none of them changed at all.
1870-73cc quarters are almost impossible to find original and without damage.
One of my favorites found in change.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
Graded PCGS VF20
Might it be a slightly higher copper content, or that most prefer untoned gold and have "conserved" their toned pieces? I'm with you, I like the toned look, a lot.
That's a really nice 1921!
