I have an early proof nickel that has some haze.
Any results in using EZest on a nickel?

Nope, not here
MS70 but not EZest. Always rinse extremely well.

In my experience the result is usually not good, most nickels have a high percentage of copper. That often leads to bad results just like dipping copper. As above use some MS70 and be careful not to hairline the surfaces.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
The real questions are whether there is more of a downside risk in doing this followed by whether the haze can even be removed...
You might consider leaving it as it currently is unless there is an environmental risk that the haze is possibly a PVC residue.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Usually straight Acetone will remove haze. Anything stronger is a huge risk as nickels are 75% copper (I believe).
I've never dipped a nickel before. Might try a worthless one first to see how it does. I've personally never had luck with acetone removing haze before.

Don't,,,,,,, about 35 yrs ago I dipped some nickels and later they all turned a funny color,,,,, a blueish color and yes I rinsed them well.
Best to use acetone first.... 100% acetone, and let it soak, covered, because the acetone evaporates quickly. Then agitate... rinse with alcohol then hot, running water. Let us know if that does not work. Cheers, RickO
Yes. Many.
I have dipped many Proof Nickels with E-Z-Est, always with really good results, followed by a rinse in 91% alcohol to neutralize the acid and then acetone and distilled water. I would suggest using a 50/50 E-Z-Est and distilled water solution and always keeping the coin in motion.
You guys have any before and after results?
