If we are doing rumors... I heard a rumor it would be at Summer ANA in August.

Anyone here want to place a wager on how long it will be after this long awaited book is actually released for sale to the public before someone posts a new thread to the US Coin Forum asking when Book 1 of the 7th Edition of the Cherrypicker's Guide will be released? :)

Well, I do know that some coins that should have made it into this 6th edition volume II were NOT included and some coins that should NOT have made it into this edition WERE included.

    So, there is that. ;)

I advised on the 6th Edition Volume II back in 2015!!! We have been waiting 8 years. I still have the emails. Some advice was taken and some was not. It seems only some advice was taken where it aligned with the coins that the authors owned, instead of what truly should have made it into the book. Based on this, I should go start a thread asking about the whereabouts of 7th Edition Volume II.

Using these books as a guide for what makes it into the PCGS Registry Complete Variety Sets is a very outdated way of operating. Waiting 8+ years to update something is nuts! What year are these companies operating in? Websites like VarietyVista.com should be used and NOT ignored.

VarietyVista is a great resource. I use it often to figure out varieties. I also use it to see what I should submit to PCGS and what I should not. It does, however, often make me wonder why some varieties have FS numbers and others do not. Seems that needs to be updated, too. But, I realize it is based on CP Guide. But, then, given what you said, it seems that guide may be somewhat biased, which is unfortunate.

I discussed it with Wayne Herndon at CSNS and he said the same thing. Apparently it's just a matter of the shipping time from China. Nobody's holding their breath for this anymore. I'll believe it when I see it. Then maybe Whitman can print another run of Vol. 1 so that people aren't resorting to paying hundreds of dollars for it on eBay.

My advice is to contact Wayne at Wizard Coin Supply and have him put you on the list. I imagine he'll be more responsive, and I'd rather he make some money than have Whitman get MSRP for a book that took this long for them to get to market.

We are advertisers in this edition and they informed us a few weeks ago that the book will be released at the summer ANA.

Yup, that’s the rumor I heard what seems to be a few months ago.

If all of this is true and the cover is the final version, it looks like Half Dollars, Dollars, Commemoratives, and Gold have been moved into a Volume 3.

Yeah, $40 for half the book you were expecting. That'll go over well. This means that people will still need to find a source for 5.2, which definitely won't be reprinted because of the overlap with 6.2. Let's hope 6.3 is ready pretty much right away and we're not waiting until 2029 for it.

I suggest you start a new thread warning others of this in the title. It’s quite possible that some of those interested may choose to not read deeply into this thread. After all, almost 500 people saw this thread, with 27 comments, and you were the first to point out this very significant change. I missed it too!

Well,,, guess that is an example of shrinkflation!! Reduce the categories..... now have to buy another book for the half dollars on up. (probably lots of new varieties added, but still.....)

Silly me. Just assumed the vol 2 would be like the 5th edition volume 2 in regards to coverage.

I noticed that a few years ago while the Redbook is printed in USA. It could be related to the binding type and how it looks so nice until you use it a few times and the binding rips off the cover.

The first couple editions were all in one book.
