It's Friday night cigar and bourbon time with a few coin dealer friends, and as always we have a coin we debate about and I enjoy using everyone's opinion on here as sorter of tie breakers..... that being said
What's your opinion on the grade of this 1928-D Mercury Dime???

From what I can tell, it looks like a MS65+ FSB

Looks AU to me.

Bottom of cap ear protector appears to have wear. I would have to say AU also. Perhaps wrong, but all your photos of this area present that look to me. JMO

58fb.
58 for me too.
Unless your scans are way off, I just don't see this MS
Hard to be sure from the photos, but it looks like there’s some very slight rub on the cap’s ear cover and on the leading edge of the wing. (Maybe on the hair curls at the back of the neck too?)
So I guess I’m at 58.
I'm in the AU58FB camp from the photos.

I'm still learning to grade so pardon me if I am off.
I think that looks like a 64FB.
I don’t see it going below 64FB.
Could be an AU64 but could even be convinced on 65 if obverse carries the day.

Some to big about those fields seems off. The lines running through the fields just don’t seem to add up to die polish or die fatigue.
I could be the photos, or perhaps I’m just too tired . I’m gonna call it UNC Details Altered Surfaces.

No way to tell the grade by your images, but it might be FSB.....maybe?
My guess will be MS64... FB.... I think the strike may be giving the impression of slight wear.... die wear rather that coin wear... JMO... Cheers, RickO
Yes, I agree with ricko on that. The blowup pictures are sometimes deceptive with light, etc. and the first smaller images of obverse appear to me to NOT show friction. Other high point areas do not show any friction either. Their appears to be nice "orange peel" surfaces in the fields and a really nice color & luster. The edges/rims also look VERY clean & coin with FB. I think I've talked myself into 65FB.
Well, just Love coins, period.

Thicker rims than I am used to seeing.
