Convert DHL ship date?

Question:

I have a product the USMint shipped my mother back in ~2006. It went DHL to her. I don't have access to her account (and the mint has changed things since then) as she has passed away.

I could open the box but it may be eligible for 1st strike if I don't.

Does anyone know their ship date conversion?

The box has:

Ship Date:
106349

Also, does anyone know the 1st strike cutoff for 2006 3coin SAE Anniversary sets? Can only find back to 2007 online.

TIA

I don't know the codes or cutoff date, but if you're thinking of grading it leave it sealed anyway. I think the only coin available only in the set was the reverse proof, so that is the only one that would be graded as part of the anniversary set if the box is opened. Just send it in as first strike and they'll adjust it if it's to late.

Cannot help with the DHL code.

FWIW, the set went on sale 08/30/06.

I agree with @SlipKid. Just submit the sealed box as FS, and let PCGS tell you if it does not qualify for 89996, 899977, and 89991.

Not sure if this would work, but you might try on the customer service website to use this number in the "other shipping reference numbers" and if not call them and surely they would be able to tell you. Would the tracking# still be trackable?
    Good luck.

Thanks, but it isn't still trackable. I tried.

I don't really want to submit it, myself, right now. If I go to sell it, it would be good to know though.
Only way to get all 3 labeled as a set is to submit unopened, so I don't want to open it up right now, 1st strike or no 1st strike.

I would still try that 6 digit date code in the "other shipping reference numbers" and see what occurs. Good luck.

Is there a chance you can find old credit card statements or computer records (such as Quicken) that may show the charge, and from that you could figure out a likely price and quantity based on what was offered that year?

Nope. Mom passed more than a handful of years ago and finanical records were shredded prior to that (she had moved and shredded stuff she no longer needed for the move). No online access to anything due to time period she has been gone.

I tried to see if the date code was Julian, but nothing legit came up.

Just really weird as it is printed just like that on the label:
    "Ship Date:
    106349"

Oh well....was just hoping someone knew how DHL codes worked.

FWIW, "06349" is a valid Julian date that corresponds to 12/15/06.

Another idea--can you take the box to a show (or have a dealer do it for you) and ask PCGS to open it for you there? If it's good stuff (or at least material worth having a First Strike designation) you can have it graded, and presumably there's a dated invoice inside to help figure out when it was shipped. If it's not eligible for FS or otherwise not worth grading right then and there, you can take the coins back and there's no rush to decide what to do with them.

I didn't see it at first but now it's clear with the example of today's date on your link--349th day of '06

Thanks. I tried an online julian conversion and it didn't work on a year.
    Appreciate it.

I think 12/15/06 is past the 1st strike on these though.

Only PCGS CS can say definitively.

FWIW, I found this. The PCGS OP estimated a mid-OCT ship date for the ASE set. Assuming this occurred, and comments within the thread suggest that it did, a mid-DEC ship date (DHL) would miss the FS cutoff.
