Pardon the thread title. This coin comes from an original cellophane proof set with the quarter and nickel below. I had the privilege of photographing them for my LCS. The cent and dime were not toned.

I have a very similar looking 61 proof set at home, very similar coloration
Mr_Spud
Not that uncommon. I have a few
Sets
That have tarnished that way last I looked (years ago) it seemed it was mostly quarters.
I kinda of thought it would be hard to get a straight grade on them. I just don’t see them slabbed
I’m undecided if the orange collar looks that good. They all seem to be dull and lifeless. Maybe it the cello package hiding any bloom
Martin
I have a similar 1962 proof set, only the half was toned.

The pic of the nickel is amazing
Here is a 1962 proof Franklin that looks like a twin to the OP's 1961.
P.S. I like Robec's1962 half better than mine.
@robec @SanctionII Nice thanks for posting those. I’m glad to see they will grade the orange toned proof coins
Thanks
Martin
I have proof sets that have been packed away for at least twenty years... No idea if they have tarnished, I certainly hope not. Well, at the premiums paid today, maybe it would be OK, I could sell them. Cheers, RickO
@ricko does that mean your warming up to a little tarnish🤣
Martin
@Martin... No, I do not like environmental damage to my coins. However, if it has occurred, no reason not to profit. Has to be eliminated, one way or another. Cheers, RickO
