The Thrilla In Tukwila - Sat 4/15/2023

Dave99BDave99B Posts: 8,590 ✭✭✭✭✭

Drove down to Tukwila for the Spring PNNA Show this morning. Didn’t have much time (maybe 90 minutes), but it was still very fun. The floor seemed very busy, and many of the dealers I spoke to seemed pleased with attendance. Gold and silver was really moving (both ways across the table) and many dealers had a fair amount. I asked about 90% silver prices, and I was usually told sell at $24.50, buy at $23 x Face.

I didn’t buy a single thing, as I’m more in Sell mode at these levels. Still a very fun Sat morning, and worth the 35 min drive.

Here’s a few pics to give you a flavor of the show.

The gold rush is clearly on!

Dave

Yes it was a good show! Silver was very strong and I did sell a few mid price Morgan’s.

How'd you like the price on that 1994-P Jefferson, $500 for $40 coin?? :D:p

Nice photos. At the Buffalo Numismatics Association show today there was a sign that read taking video or photos is strictly prohibited. Also ID was needed for non B.N.A. members to enter. Very tight security.

It was fun catching up with @Lakesammman @Bochiman and @2windy2fish at the show today.
Handling Lake's 1796 small hammered eagle dollar was one heckuva thrill.

    Pre-33 gold has been HOT!!!
Priced mine fairly (more than dealers would pay but under what you see on ebay/apmex/jmbullion/etc) and in 3 days, all but 2 (priced a little higher) have sold. ( posted this an hour before we left and, as we were half packed up, my guy brought his friend and he had just enough for the $20 lib I had left and bought it, so only 1 didn't sell since my guy ran out of cash...LOL)

Had 1 gentleman that bought some from me all 3 days....used all his cash on Friday, went to the bank Saturday morning, used all his cash Saturday and bought another handful, then came back today and used all his cash to buy some more. No cherrypicking and many were dupes. He just liked the pricing and wanted the gold.

90% silver has been pretty hot too. I wasn't selling any but I did see a lot of it sell.

Swampboy, it was great to see you again!

Things are settling down, dealers are packing up and slowly moving out.

Took this to show Swampboy, Bochiman and a few others - the colors in the true-view are a little juiced, but it is a pretty coin. I like the strike - even the eagles tongue is well seen.

    Holy crap!

Pssst....that wasn't Lakes that gave that to your daughter. It was the handsome guy sitting to his left ;)
And you, and she, are very welcome. She was a class act like you.

PS....I think the PCGS Bison was from him, if I remember correctly

    Holy crap!

Seeing it in person, and holding it in-hand, "HOLY CRAP!" is about right. That thing is amazing.
Lakes had some super nice coins out in his case....The "doily proof trade $", this one, and a super nice 1856 Flying Eagle proof, to mention just a couple.

Though, I admit to laughing that he had those in his case, and also a Cheerios Lincoln Cent that he sold as well.
LOL....that guy has such a wide mix of items. He's my hero! o:)

Yep - I gave her the PCGS Buff 5c. :D

I can't think of another hobby in my life where I can enjoy talking with someone for 3 days straight! It was fun sharing a table with Bochiman - hope to do it again in October.
