Some fun new pickups this weekend
COINS MAKE CENTS
So we set up at the Azalea festival coin show in Wilmington NC this weekend. Bought a few fun errors from a customer I figured I would share. Nothing crazy but fun none the less.
I will do a show report Monday but a little pre show report is it was crazy busy and we bought and sold a ton of material!
Anyway for your viewing pleasure.....

Some nice errors there. I am wondering about the 1998 cent as to why there is no zinc showing? I would think there would be some zinc exposed on it.

Some interesting error cents there... Look forward to your full show report. Cheers, RickO
Thanks for posting! It's good to know that there's a coin show that comes to Wilmington. How many vendors? I'm looking into retirement and Wilmington keeps filtering up to the top of the list.

Those are some great errors. Wish we could sticky pics like these into one big error thread so new people have reference material.

Nice ones!
You really buried the lede, some of those are exceptional errors.
The first coin is an enormous counterbrockage, one of the nicest I've seen posted here in some time. The 1975 I have seen described as an elliptical collar clip or a jam strike, the collar pinches off part of the planchet as material is also pushed up between the collar and the obverse die. I have seen a bunch of these on early 1990s cents, many have been misattributed as elliptical clips, even in TPG holders.
The 1998 is an indent with partial brockage. The 1964 has a splendid planchet crack, small cracks (as well as clips) are relatively common on this date but your example is exceptional. The 1956 appears to be struck through a late stage die cap, assuming the weight is correct.
That 1920 cent is something special, it looks like a detached lamination on an off-center broadstrike. Again I'm assuming the two pieces together weigh as much as a normal cent, as there is a small chance the detached portion is scrap from another planchet that was struck into this coin.
I need to get to more shows if these are the kinds of errors that are walking onto the bourse. Congrats on some great pick-ups.

@seanq
Thanks for the rundown. Very helpful for someone like myself who isn’t all the way up to speed on errors.
Before I got to your post, I was looking at that 56 and thinking, “What in the wide, wide world of sports is that?”
Wow thanks for all the info!
HAPPY COLLECTING
LOVE those very cool and dramatic penny errors, thanks for posting!

I absolutely LOVE the counterbrockage!
