That reporter stated $750,000 of dimes is a million dimes. Wouldn't that be 7.5 million dimes? Or is my cipher'n just wrong?
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
An estimated 1 million dimes worth $100,000 was taken. Total on the truck was $750,000 in dimes.
Investigators believe $100,000 was stolen (1 million dimes)
No, they said that out of the $750,000 in dimes approximately $100,000 was stolen, or approximately;y one million dimes.
Sounds like they just broke into a random truck conveniently parked in the middle of nowhere and were not equipped to move ballistic bags that weigh roughly 4,000 pounds.
I'm gonna take a nap and maybe when I wake up this didn't happen.![;) ;)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)

Whole lot of dimes in Walmart's parking lot ... stay tuned for the Errors![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)

So they went into the Walmarts and bought several trash bins to put the coins in. Besides the security cameras the Police are looking at, what are the chances that somebody bought multiple trash bins with a traceable credit or debit card??????
Where’s the WOW button?
I'll bet the nearby coinstar machines were smokin! What a fiasco.

Will take a lot of patience to pass or convert a million dimes without raising suspicion. Coinstar?
Looks like a LOT of parking lot finds are being created.
So if PCGS gets a submission with thousands of clad dimes we'll know what's up.> @CharlotteDude said:

I'm just wondering what the exact contract specifications stated regarding security procedures for this contractor.
Pick up the cash from the Mint and go home take a nap. Sure, no problem! 😂 🤣

How many threads will this inspire...."I found this coin in a parking lot!"
How about the slabbed 2023 Roosevelt "Philadelphia Mills Shopping Mall Hoard"? 😂 🤣

Looks like they finally made it back to town..........
Probably paid with dimes.
Is my calculation correct that the estimated weight of the dimes stolen is 5,000 lbs? They must have went next door and rented a Home Depot truck. Lol

@Tramp 5,000 lbs was my estimate too. Now I'm reading up to $200,000 was stolen (4.5 tons).
Was it the same group which stole a truck full of nickels a few years ago?

Does the mint have insurance ? I suppose the loss will be charged to the taxpayers, like everything else.
I think we have a suspect...............![:D :D](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)

Watch the BST for someone selling a ballistic bag of dimes.
Other than Coinstar, and a few minor purchases, it will not be easy to dispose of these. I would think Coinstar will be alerted for major dime quantities being converted. And surveillance video will surely be available.... Cheers, RickO
That's going to make one heck of a bulk submission for whichever TPG comes up with the best special label.

Or perhaps when someone was dispatched to pick up a shipment of dime bags from a truck, this wasn't what they had in mind.

something about this story is off. it just doesn't make sense to me. the truck was randomly robbed of 5000lbs of its payload?
You're kidding right? It's Philadelphia. I'm surprised they didn't take the entire truck!

With what's happening in Philadelphia these days and every other big city in this country, I'm surprised someone hasn't already walked off with the entire Mint!! 😂 🤣 LoL!!

I saw a surveillance video the other day of some teenagers breaking into a Mazda Miata with the intention of joy riding it - they hot wired it just fine, got it started but then couldn't figure out how to get it to go - none of the idiots knew how to drive a manual transmission.![>:) >:)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/naughty.png)
