Not yet in hand - so blocking the certification - but I got her and she’s been a hole in my collection for a long time - share your new impulse here on tax season…!!! Lol

I do like it a lot. Through the scrapes it should holder no less than 64, and might garner a 65 on a good day.

The last "real" silver dollar, and a very nice one at that.

I like your new impulse purchase! Tax season did not give me much margin for impulse buys this year alas, but yours looks really nice. I hope you love it in hand.

Congrats. I just picked up the same coin in slightly scruffier form for my MS63 Peace set - also now only missing the 1934 S.

Lol / the 34S will require a better tax result than I got this year!!!
But I’m on the hunt - there is an amazing 34s ms65 on eBay right now - only 13Gs …!!!
    Cheap! Ha ha

You won't be competing against me since I have to find a 63 for the matched set. Taking a break from that set for a few months before I start looking for one in earnest.

Yeah that’s a better goal than what I set for myself - all of mine are 64 or higher …
Originally tried to get all 65, so called “gem” state, but for some of these it’s just ridiculously high for the 65. And in many cases wirh the peace dollars, the 64s have better eye appeal.

Same can be said for the 63s - which is what I should have done. It always seemed like 64 was the lowest grade considered for “condition rarity” for nearly all dates in the peace dollar series - even for the 34S.

    All the best!

Thoughts? It's a beautiful coin, and if you can "impulse buy" such an expensive coin, I'm impressed!

    :)

Thank you - cost about as much as a weekend cabin in the mountains… (not including ski passes) - what can I say

  • That is a beautiful coin!
I have a set going. Just starting.

Thoughts? I like it. Cheek marks are minimal and not distracting to my eye. I get hyper focused on the cheek on peace dollars and morgans for some reason.

I recently started a Peace Dollar DATE set. Since it’s a DATE set, I can pick the more common Philadelphia. Being the more common date, combined with only 10 coins needed for the set, I was able to buy a higher grade, also just picked up.

    I think you’ll like her cheek, @Shane6596 .

    That is clean! Very nice.

I like the OP’s example. A few small wispy abrasions that are consistent for the 65 grade. Great strike and frosty luster, too.

@Che_Grapes... That is a nice Peace dollar. I do not do impulse buys... Well, I did when I used to go to coin shows.... Now, I have time to contemplate a purchase, and reason wins out over impulse. Good economic sense, but not as much fun. ;) Cheers, RickO

My biggest issue these days is that if I don’t impulse buy it and instead give myself time to overthink it - I would have no more new coins…

Yes, that would be boring Rick. Good sense, good riddance ;)

Nice addition! I recently added a '35-S to my set. I've tried to find coins with decent luster and strikes in the MS63-65 range, which can sometimes have more eye appeal than some in loftier grades without breaking the bank. With some searching, the '35-S can be found with satiny luster and a better strike than most other "S" mint coins of the same grade.

Countdown to completion of my Mercury Set: 1 coin. My growing Lincoln Set: Finally completed!
