Seems to be camera day......for me too. What ya think?
I struggle as well. It's not something I want to learn how to do, but taking photos is mandatory if you want to sell on the internet and want top dollar. I just dumped my Nikon and went to an old Samsung with a phone, clip on, magnifier. Took my first images last night and I think that it's an improvement over what I was able to do before. No editing or changing of contrast, etc. Still have some work to do but at least I'm getting some decent shots now. I need an attachment for the phone to my photo stand but these were hand held.

Cool.
Careful. For me, coin photography has been almost as addictive as coin collecting.
They're ok for a clip on magnifier cell phone pics. But to get decent photos I have to believe you need a macro lens on a DSLR camera.

I can see the doubling easily. For close up phone pictures to make the phone focus better, I use one of these scissor jacks.

You set the phone on it, focus with the phone first and then fine tune the focus with the scissor jack screw like you would with a stage microscope. You can also use the scissors jack without the macro lens in place of a copy stand. It holds the phone parallel to coins underneath and allows you to optimize the distance between the camera lens and the coin just by turning the screw.
Phones are more convenient than DSLR cameras, their main drawback is you can’t enlarge the images as much without them getting all pixelating and cartoonish looking, but I think this will constantly improve in the coming years.
Here’s an example picture using iPhone with macro lens and focusing with the scissor jack

The ol scissor Jack, ah?
Looks like it’s served you well - great pics

Great pictures... I will stick to the handheld phone for pictures... Just cannot afford to get the 'coin photography bug'... I know I would end up with a room dedicated to taking pictures, several cameras, lighting that would make a TV producer jealous, and likely a divorce if I embark on ANOTHER hobby...![:D :D](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
