Green label Carson city Morgan’s

PppPpp Posts: 513 ✭✭✭✭

I am not a big fan (I know I am in the minority) of cac green beans but I do love old green label holders because of the history. I could not resist picking up the following 1880cc, 1881cc, 1882cc, 1883cc, 1884cc, and 1885cc Morgan’s.
Unfortunately, now I feel compelled to start searching for the other Carson city dates with green labels. Since I have the 1900o/cc green label I am half way there. This could get expensive, ouch. 🙂

Here are my CC OGHers. Most of my Morgans are from 20ish years ago so it wasn't OGH back then!

Alaura22: The bean wasn’t a factor in my decision process. In terms of these coins I did pay more for them than I would normally pay because I liked; the grade, eye appeal, and the green holder. If these coins had the cac bean in current non-green holders I would not have bought them because of the increase price. In the end the deciding factors for me were eye appeal and green holders.

Personally, I think the bean was a great marketing branding and positioning product/service from ja that wasn’t needed however grading services and the market/public embraced it and are paying big premiums for it. I know I am in the minority in my thinking but for me once PCGS or ngc confirms authenticity and grade (which is their objective opinion) for a coin then the decision for me (not anyone else) is eye appeal and price.

I haven’t done much research because cac doesn’t interest me but I think there is a potential PCGS and ngc graded coins to become second tier to cac graded coins because a PCGS/ngc ms65 (without a current bean) may only be a ms64 by cac standards whereas a cac ms65 will be a MS65 for PCGS/ngc. I don’t begrudge anyone who likes coins with cac stickers (granted which it appears to be almost everyone) that’s their choice and I respect it, I just don’t see the need to pay extra for someone else’s opinion.
    🙂

Thank you for sharing your ogh coins.
Snman: yes, I look forward to finding a 79 and 89 ogh. I will admit I won’t tell the wife because my desire to have an ogh set will be tested. 🙂

@Ppp .... That is a great group of CC Morgans. I built a set years ago... did not seek special holders/stickers/TPG... Just wanted a CC set that I liked. Some in GSA holders, some raw, some slabbed. Not as pretty as yours (especially that 1883)... but I am happy with them. Cheers, RickO
