Lost my two best friends two years ago. Lenny and his mother Hera.
Lenny was the smartest dog I ever had. He could read my mind and I knew what he was thinking.
Miss them every day.

Vert sorry to hear of Spot's passing. This thread is a nice tribute.
Yikes! That looks like active corrosion. You may want to send it to PCGS to get it conserved although it looks like it may be too late.

Thanks Perry Hall. I bought this in early 2012 from IrishMike here on the BST. At the time it was the "cover coin" on shylock's website, indianhead.org (no longer active). The clashing is very strong on both obverse and reverse and I think that was for the placement.
Anyway, at that time it was felt that the corrosion was beyond conservation's help. I'd shown it to a couple of dealer friends and they agreed with that opinion. The spot hasn't changed much in that time but if someone here feels as though conservation may help I'd be willing to try.
Here's a pic from shylock's website which would have been at least 12 years ago:

I would let the coin conservation experts at PCGS take a look at it and advise you as to your options. If you decide to just keep it as is, I suggest that you store it in a ziplock bag with a silica gel desiccant canister to eliminate most of the humidity around the slab which should greatly reduce any future growth of the corrosion. That clash mark is really cool and it appears to be an otherwise very nice coin.

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone. Your outpouring of support is much needed and I'm grateful. I picked up Spot's remains from the crematorium this afternoon and I've decided to place her on top of my grandmothers china hutch... it was about the only place I'd shoo her away from but I can definitely see the vantage point if you're a cat. It's the highest point in the dining room overlooking the living space and the kitchen. So, I'm finally acquiescing and letting her be there... and I'll be able to keep an eye on her

RIP Hobo. c. 2008-2023. He passed away on me in his sleep, Nov. 4.
He was my best buddy since 2010, when I found him laying under a bush in front of my house. Skin and Bones...weighed maybe 3-4 lbs. when I found him. The vet estimated he was between 1-2 yrs old at the time. He wasn't chipped. The vet figured he either ran off from home or was dumped somewhere. He proceeded to run my house for the next 13 years. Seems empty now without him there.
My dad and mom's (RIP) birth years.
They're long gone but never forgotten. Our loved ones who died ( including pets) leave a spot >>>
... and let's hope they save us a spot.
I don’t know how I missed this thread the first time around, and I’m very sorry for your loss. Back around the time of this thread, April, I lost my bird Penny, and that hurt bad, so I totally understand.
Here is a picture of my cat Molly, and Penny. I believe this was the day before Penny passed away.
Penny was old, it was old age.
Another fun picture of Penny:
Molly is very special to me, when Molly goes, it’s going to hurt bad! Whenever I get some thing new that I really like, especially silverware, I try to get a picture of it next to Molly:

Know exactly how you feel. We lost ours a little over 2 years ago. Just not the same.
