Possible Copyrights issue? (Fiji 2023 Silver Eagle).
Just got an email from MCM for Fiji 2023 Silver Eagle Set.

Just wondering if there will be a copyrights issue with the U.S. Mint?

Nope
Got an email about a 4- coin set. Reverse proof. Tenth quarter half and one oz. They did some 2022 Morgan’s and Peace Dollar that are very nice.
I’m speculating about the chance of a problem but I doubt it will be an issue

Designs originating with the US Mint are effectively public domain.

For $500 it can go back to Fiji.

There should be, but since it is a design that the US is no longer using I don’t think anything will happen.
Given that it's 100 year old design, is it still under copyright protection?
Interesting.... I would think there would have been prior collaboration with the U.S. Mint regarding the design.... maybe not, but likely. Cheers, RickO
Arguments can be made for and against copyright infringement, but since it isn't labeled as a Silver Eagle and does have a share of design differences, this one should be okay.
