Jefferson Nickel Folks.....I did it again! Check out this variety toner!

1946 MS65 FS-801 toner! I am co-discoverer of this Cherry Pickers variety. This one is so close to a full stepper, though the toning makes this one crazy nice!

Cool, what exactly makes it FS-801?

The "doubling" is most noticeable in the thickness in the bottom serifs of UNUM, but runs all the way through E PLURIBUS as well. All the lettering on the reverse shows the unusual thickness.

I made the first full step example of this variety a few years ago, an MS64FS.

Wow! That’s awesome! I don’t have to patience to look at so many coins so closely, nor do I have the expertise required.

That is a very nice looking coin! I like. I've been looking at some of those mid forties jeffs myself recently.

@BigDowgie ... Nice catch on the FS-801.... In the picture, the bottom of E looks most obvious. Cheers, RickO

Beautiful coin. Not trying to take away from your presentation in any way but I think I like it closer to a 64 or 64+. Again, beautiful coin regardless.

Here is a close-up of UNUM from a different example.

I hear ya, as we all have our own opinions. Tough to get a side-by-side comparison when only 9 Non-FS and 2 FS examples to pull from. Though I have owed 3 Non-FS and 1 FS pieces. I don't think I have pictures to share.
