these PLASTIC coins were in the reject tray, could they really have gone through the machine?

    Yes. I have accidently put shirt buttons into a coinstar machine. Grandkids like sticking random objects into my coin jar apparently.

    I have found plastic coins like your plastic Lincoln coin also.

    I have found play money in BWR several times.

    Yep... Some strange stuff turns up in the reject slot from time to time.... Once I got a wooden 'coin' .... Lots of foreign coins all the time. Cheers, RickO
