Has anyone here submitted to any of the top grading companies for an upgrade, received a higher grade point and submitted for regrading again and got another upgrade?

Based off the overwhelming response, I guess this doesn’t happen

I submitted a WLQ ms64 in an OGH and it came back MS66!! I bet this is extremely rare though. Those guys are pretty good usually.

There are many grading stories that the average collector would find hard to believe. Certain series are more likely to have this happen than others. 3 point upgrades are not totally unheard of...
I'm sure Mr. Feld has some stories from working at Heritage for several years.

I submitted an 1824 over various dates half in MS62 for upgrade. It went to MS64. It was fully graded at that point and not PQ for the grade. This occurred about 10 or 12 years ago. Only time it ever happened for my collection.

Had it happen a couple times if including the + grade. One was a better/semi-key date Morgan that upgraded from 65 to 65+. A couple/few years later it was sent in with a group and upgraded to a 66. Was not expecting this one to upgrade in the set group and it was a big $ jump up (to me).

Nice score. When you sent it in did you see it or were you hoping for +1 ?

Ok, I’ll be the second one, behind @lilolme , to post an example of what I interpret the OP is asking.

I bought on eBay a 1904 Double Eagle graded MS64+ by PCGS with a CAC for my 12 coin Gold Type Set. I liked it a lot, despite a dark mint made “grease-like” line on the reverse (kind of like the reporter who asked Mrs. Lincoln, “So, other than the assassination, how was the play?”).

I sent it to PCGS for Restoration, and they accepted it. The improvement was only slight (the line was made a little thinner) but they now graded it 65 (PCGS Restoration always submits their finished work to the grading area, with a guarantee that it will not downgrade). I then sent it to CAC, and they stickered it as a 65. I still really loved the luster and “clean” surfaces for such a large gold coin, especially compared to other 65’s. So silly me, I sent it back to PCGS for Reconsideration. Sure enough, they added a plus, so it’s now 65+. I then sent it back to CAC, but now it automatically got the sticker, since this time the cert number remained unchanged via Reconsideration, and CAC stickering ignores pluses.

A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!
