Does all the 86's have FC instead of FG for the designers initials or did I find something?

Certainly looks like a "C". Strange that it showed up on a Cameo Proof, so it cannot be the strike causing it.
I personally don't know if it has any extra value, though.

Did you look at a lot of pictures before asking? The initials on the two I viewed, looked like yours.

Normal Proof example.
Was it just on the 1980's proofs. My 1990's have FG
Looking it up in the Mega Red Book Vol. 6 which features halves, it mentions a variety in 1982 where the designers initials FG are missing. On all the rest the initials should always be FG, not sure what blocked the curl on the G to turn it into a C.
Good observation on this Halve. From 20 I have, all has same characteristics of the G. I want to mention that are different levels, as more just C and others trough G but I didn't find no one with really G. Here a photo of the most close with your coin. Seem all has same and I presume come from the working hub. Here an example:

My 1987S is the same way. Looks just like a c. But my 1992S has the G.
Maybe those are designed by his brother Frank Casparro.
Seems like a common anomaly from the comments so far. I will check mine later. Cheers, RickO
