I was going through my new 2023 Edith quarter roll and noticed quite a few quarters with the same thing going on. Is this die polish? 8 out of 40 quarters in my Philly roll had these lines behind the ears. Is this anything special?

Maybe they'll show up larger if I post one at a time.

Looks like die polish lines that were not 'smoothed' as part of the work. The strikes seem to show progressive wear. Cheers, RickO

They appear to be " Feeder finger Scrapes".
    Cool find!

Would that be true if the marks are only in that area and not visible on the ear or the hair?
I do see on the 3rd coin there are additional marks at the back of the head. Seems like a scrape would not be so consistently in one area.

Might be feeder finger damage, it is the right angle.
It also at the back of the head and between the ponytail and neck.

Typical (for nowadays) Philadelphia Mint poor die preparation, and strike deficiencies.
