On the Registry Hunt for the modern 1st Shield Year Cent. *GRADES ARE IN!

Hi guys,
Just purchased these 10 2010p/d bank/mint rolls from my LCS. Yep, after noticing the sick values on these high graded Shield Cents. I decided to start the CHASE! It won't be easy trying to hit that ms 67,68 or 69 plateau. I figured, why not, right? Only cost me $15 total.

I might hold off on the 2 mint rolls, the P and D?
I might toss the pair on Ebay?

Let's GO...

Wish me Luck.
Thanks 😊

    Good luck!

I am presently working to the Lincoln Memorial Cents, the later zinc ones, and have many of them through 1999, all in MS67, PCGS. I buy them slabbed, as going through rolls of Lincoln Cents and dealing with the grading services is not my cup of tea. Good luck with that, and perhaps one day I will go after the Shield Cents, though I already have all of the proofs of the series through 2022.

I just opened 5 2010 sealed mint sets to search for the cents. Every one of them P & D had problems
    Good luck

Green is the best looking coin.

@joeykoins... They are certainly nice cents... After careful, repeated scrutiny, I will say the 'green' cent is the best candidate. Good luck, Cheers, RickO

    Thanks, you two.
Of course. this is only the beginning of future candidates. 8 more rolls to examine.
Thank You again, for your care and choices.
I'm really contemplating of finding maybe 5 - 10, in total. Then, submit all to try for that exclusive jackpot?
    :p

Here are a whole roll of the not-so-great,
conditioned 2010p's that have all similar die crack/chips on Abe's Skull going downward.
50 of them! I did place this roll on ebay.
I found approx. 7 more ms 67, 68 possibilities I put aside. Without any die cracks. Will post later.
Down to my last 3 rolls to check. Besides the 2 Mint rolls I'm saving.

Here are the appearances of the die crack!

I just purchased a pair of MS67 coins, the 2010 P & D issues, no roles to go through, no grading service to deal with as they were already graded. Oh, and no spots nor stains.

Abe's mouth looks like it's open on the green coin.

Could be abraiding from re-working the die.

Check out those PCGS prices on the extreme high grades!
    The Denver and/or Philadelphia mint.

    Pleasurable Premiums.

It just might allure you to crack the box open?

    Found some more candidates!
However, a few have a die crack/chips, running down Abe's Skull. Would this effect the grade?
    Thanks 😊

The Central States Show is nearing quick.
    Summarizing my last few candidates.
So far, I have 6 to send out. One more roll to examine! I might filter out the 6, I have chosen to 4 or 5?
I asked this earlier. If the coin has a die crack, does it effect the grade?
    Pictures shown above.
    Thanks.

And, from @joeykoins point of view, no fun at all. The hobby has to be big enough for both approaches.

Shouldn't. I mean error coins get straight graded all the time.

The ones that your photos show to have the spots? Don't bother sending those in. I seriously doubt they would grade high enough to make the submission worth it

I wish you luck. I have had graded thousands of modern Lincoln's. Your coins are all late die state (wavy fields), good strikes and fairly mark free but if you are new to the game you are going to be disappointed, those are all going to come back 66RD due to the die state and the spots, plus all the rim dings. When you see a 68 you will know it. If you are interested I have about 50 $25 boxes of 2008-D's (last of the memorial cents), good early dies. I purchased an entire ballistic bag ($5K face) from my friend who was the fed distributor. They go for over $100 a box ($25 face).

Since my first post, I have filled in the 2010-2014, 2018, 2021 and 2022 Shield Cents in MS-67.

good luck Joey, I like the green best but a MS66 does not pay show grading fees (hope you get higher).

Great grades, except for the ones that QC’d. I bet the ezest turned them pink.

I'll probably flip it? As a matter of fact, the same dealer that bought my 2020W PCGS ms 67 Tallgrass Prairie, for $750. Two years ago, is also at the Central States Show here in Chicago! So, after I pick up my W Rockefeller Graded coin tomorrow from PCGS. I'm going to attempt to try to Flip this one too! I'm going to start off with maybe, $900. We'll see what happens.
    Thanks 😊

Thanks, yeah, you know what happened? It ended up with some red blotches in various areas of the coin. The EZEST seemed to remove the main red skin. I don't know what I was thinking? Lessons learned, the hard way! Boy, did the Rockefeller save my butt! 😆
    Thank You

Use MS70 instead. Then wash them thoroughly, even use acetone and then wash. I NEVER even do this to roll coins, they are what they are especially so modern. The only reason to MS70 is older mint set coins that have a layer of film from the plastic.

I am always much happier to buy a previously graded coin. No care nor stress as to the grade, that work has already been done. I have never sent a coin in for grading, and have no plans to ever do so. That does not prevent me from purchasing previously graded coins, of which I have 280 Lincoln Cents and 89 other coins. Three out of four in details, a long wait for bad news.
