US Minted Territorial Dollar/Crown Question

lermishlermish Posts: 1,932 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am putting together a type set of all pre-WW2 US made silver dollars & crowns. The normal US issues are easy to find of course. For foreign/territorial issues I have the Hawaii Dala and Philippine Peso.

Am I missing any? I feel like there might be one or two more but I can't find anything.

Some of the Chinese "silver dollars", like the "Fat Man" Dollar and Junk (sailing ship) Dollar were made by the US Mint.
I think some of the 1908 silver Mexico Pesos are also US Mint products.

Those are off the top of my head - I think there are plenty more.

The US minted junk dollars were minted post-WW2 in 1949 although they used identical designs and are dated 1934. Same exact deal with the 1898 Mexico Peso - struck in 1949 with identical dies.

Good call on the Star Peso @DeplorableDan !

I'm pretty sure the Panama 1931 and 1934 balboas were struck in the US.

Yes! 1934 was minted in SF. I cannot find anything about 1931 though.

I am continually surprised at the different collecting segments that appear on this forum. That is one of the great things about this hobby. So many different ways and coins to collect. Cheers, RickO

I keep trying to thank you @CaptHenway and the forum software keeps denying my request. So thank you very much, that is exactly what I was looking for!

I've got a nice chopmarked one but not the US minted date. Will have to go get a 21 or 22:)

I very well may be wrong, but weren't some of the early 20th century Leper Colony coins of various countries struck in the US?

They were but the crowns (Peso) were copper-nickel, not silver.
