Cool Columbian Exposition half dollar I got for pretty cheap!

Does it look cleaned to you? It was a 17 dollar pickup and I only got it because I liked the toning so I don't mind regardless, just looks a bit suspicious

Does not looked cleaned to me. Some surface wear over very old toning. Good deal.

It looks like it may have a very old cleaning, and then re-skinned. It's also possible that it was someone's pocket piece for a while. Either way, it's a nice pick up, and the price wasn't bad either.

Really? I see some very light micro scratches on the top right of the ship along with haloing around the coin. I figured it was just an old polish that toned over. If not I guess it was a great deal. Thanks!

Thats what I had assumed, but some of the scratches I'm seeing look more like scuff marks, so it definitely could've been a carry piece. I think I'll wait for more input

Well I’m never wrong, thought I was once but was mistaken.

Seen a light cleaning (old) but I love the look.

@dan9090...Nice old coin... I can recall getting a couple of these in change when I was a kid with a paper route.... Not common, but did get two that I recall. Cheers, RickO

I agree that it looks to may have had a very old cleaning. But as mentioned, has retoned quite nicely. Good pickup!
