What is the most coins of anyone date and mint mark that PCGS has graded?

Was looking at the thread about proof 1971-S Ike’s that had 50,000 graded. What is the most for any one coin and MM by PCGS

Not sure about specific year and mint mark, but as a series, the Lincoln cent is the far and away winner in the population report.

I think more Morgan dollars have been graded.

I think that’s correct in aggregate and also for the individual date/mint title as well, which seems to go to the 2008 MS issue.

What was special about 2008? Are the high numbers just the result of some telemarketer?

The 2008 silver eagle has about 385K graded. The 1924 Saint (which I would have guessed had the most) has about 350K. The 81-S Morgan has about 310K.

Where do you find this information?
    Which TPGs does it encompass?

These are PCGS numbers. You can find the population reports in Coinfacts.

So I figured, thanks. I Wonder how reasonable it is to extrapolate from those to the wider TPG marketplace.

My first thoughts were 1904 double eagles and 38-D buffalo nickels. Over 225,000 1904 DE and 65,000 38-D buffalo’s.

Those are some amazing numbers, and does not include all TPG's. There are an incredible quantity of slabs out there in collections and dealer inventories.... and those numbers would be dwarfed by raw coins in collections. Seems like a lot of money not circulating in commerce, but much of it IS commerce. :D;) Cheers, RickO

Checking over at NGC, they’ve graded over 800K each of 2010 and 2011 ASEs with the 2011 winning by about 30K.

The NGC numbers on the 81-S are 1924 Saint are comparable to PCGS.
