I was trying to help a new collector understand he had an RPM, any and all advise is welcome!

And then he asked, what does RPM stand for, as I typed, the words for the acronym, it didn't make any sense to me, R stands for RE ? P stands for Punched ? M stands for Mint? or Mark? Re-Punched should be considered one word right? And as far as M to me it makes sense that it stands for Mark, because in every other acronyms I know of middle words are the ones that get dropped. USA "of" dropped for the classic example:)
So it's (Re/ Punched/ Mark)? or (Re /Punched (mint) / Mark)? Wouldn't it have been nice if it actually made sense when trying to explain to a new collector? Way too late now but, wouldn't it have been nice if it were MPM ( Multi /Punched (mint)/ Mark) or MPMM ( Multi /Punched /Mint /Mark) sorry for the venting:) just needed to say what I thought about the hobby I love so much!

I always see it as "Re-Punched Mintmark".
@Ringgy ... @Batman23 has nailed it... That is the interpretation of RPM. Cheers, RickO
This adds to the discussion a few months ago about whether or not it's "mint mark" or " mintmark".
RPM supports "mintmark".![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Ok thank you all, I didn't think about Mintmark as one word, that helps so much!
To throw a wrench in all of this, OMM stands for Over Mint Mark.![:D :D](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
damn it...
Next you can explain to them about lamination errors (De-lamination) or clipped planchet (Incomplete planchet).![;) ;)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Gee. And all this time I never knew that the gauge on my dashboard was actually measuring RepunchedMintmarks...
