Ive been reading alot on coins, but can someone kindly explain QC. And why you thought this coin has it.

Doesnt need to be a long reply, just something so im more clear on it.

    Thanks.

@braddick maybe the cleaning was part of the reason for causing the color

QC means questionable color. That could include a number of methods that changed the color of the coin in an unnatural way (chemicals, heat, etc). There is a chance that the color happened naturally but it just does not have the look of what the graders associate with natural toning. And then there are some cases where it's borderline where it could go either way (cases where even the experts disagree).

That is a really dark coin! I don't think the color is normal. If it was cleaned, would there be hairlines under magnification?

It almost looks like Kiwi shoe polish was rubbed on it to hide the cleaning.

Excellent point and one I hadn't considered.

Looks like it was cleaned and then had something done to promote the color... On that one, I would have guessed AT. Cheers, RickO
