The pic is good enough to see that it's a MA state quarter. I wonder what happened to it to give it that copper color.

Agree but I've also seen similar that were found at the beach by a metal detectorist. Saltwater is very corrosive.

It boggles the mind that people would throw that kind of money away without having a clue about what they are bidding on. Most of these aren't even remotely deceptive.
I love the new terminology for counterfeit sellers, commemorative or restrikes. It is so bad that I wish ebay would place all non genuine listed coins in their own category that does not come up under genuine coin searches. I'm sure it can't be done that would satisfy all, but it is a pain searching through all the crap. Is what it is, my son says.

Not just this -- I guess if people can list bogus, inaccurate and fraudulent things on CL they can do it on ebay -- but one seller I saw today had listed a "rare" 2005 Buffalo nickel; BIN for $600. No make offer offered. Pretty sure I have a few of these 'worth 5-cents all day long' pieces in my change jar.

That is funny...

Do people even look at what they are bidding on?
Why?? Why even consider this? Terrible picture.... Cheers, RickO
That there coin traveled into the future (2000) and then back to 1788. Lol

eBay nuked it.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
I follow the colonial coins on ebay and while it has always been bad, it has gotten absolutely ridiculous. It is just full of the cheap souvenir replica Massachusetts cents, Continental dollars, Nova Constellatio, Pine tree shillings, and people are bidding them up to hundreds of dollars. There are so many you just can't report them fast enough. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165960310045?nma=true&si=82g7p3vpkvG4U2zlW7hJLWKy5Tc%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Wonder what the seller thinks of the 2000.
If I remember correctly there was 3 different bidders.
