Another one for the gift type set. I have been practicing grading these. Not going well. Buffalo nickels seem difficult to me.

Maybe slight wear on obverse at hairline and cheek. Would need to see in hand but I go with AU55/58.
Tip of horn is visible. XF....40 if I have to use a number. 45? Maybe. Luster doesn't appear to be there, ruling out AU grade.
Nice looking piece.

The problem for me, with grading Buffalos as that I often confuse weak strike for wear. I see a lot of people say they aren't good at grading Buffalos, and I'm most definitely in that camp! So, my feeble best guess would be AU55.

I would say XF45 - AU50.... Nice looking Buff. Cheers, RickO
Because Type 1 buffs are normally very well struck, I’m guessing this one has actual wear and not a getting a pass for the strike.
AU 55
Au55. Looks like the reverse has visible wear.

Buffalo Nickels are difficult. My first thought was XF.
58/62... I am not sure.

I'm going with xf45 due to no au luster. IMO.

It does appear to have a little wear. Doesn't have a pinpoint strike either.
I've been wrong before, but discoloration seems to show up on the prime wear points.

XF-45 is my guess. Very hard series to correctly grade.
Ok, here it is...

Decent coin for a MS62. Not being the person who paid for the holder most likely made it a good deal for you.
I got it for $60. Dont know if its good deal or not.
Building a cheaper type set, so anything under $100 that looks good, im picking up and not losing sleep over it.
Ill do an "expensive" more thought out type set in the future. This is like a practice run.
