This has probably been posted before but I can't find it, maybe I saw it someplace else?
There is a lot of confusion on PCGS SP coins vs MS coins
Seems that PCGS when grading these coins put MS on some and SP on others even thou they are satin finish.
I noticed that a lot of dealers on auction sites are asking moon money for their coins thinking it's a regular issue coin when they really have a common satin finish coin.
Why did PCGS put the MS on the satin finish coins?
If there is a thread on this please post a link
Thanks
Mike

If I’m not wrong I think the satin finish coins weigh 3.1 but not sure.

Mistakes get make, could have been a few slipped through early on or mechanical errors.

@alaura22 ... Do you have any comparative pictures? It would help the discussion... I have not seen any coins as you describe. Cheers, RickO

**These are not my coins, **
The seller has the 2008-d up for $400 thinking it's a regular strike
The 2008-P the seller has it for the proper amount for a satin finish coin

I really was hoping to get more opinions about this, maybe I didn't ask correctly

I think it is a "mechanical error." It came up on the forum before with, as you mention, coins being sold at high valuations for the high MS grade which is rare in the circulation strikes. But it happened a lot.

WOW, this happened a lot over the 2005-2010 coins.
BTW, I emailed the dealer on the 2008-d and asked them why they had a $14 coin listed at opening bid of $400, He emailed back and said it was a $1150 coin. I then asked him to run the cert#, nerver heard back from him, and it's still listed!
    Quess it's "buyer beware"
    Thanks for the imput
