I might just attempt this, but in a more possible everyman's set of AU58. You would still have all the features and be able to pick the year of the best strike possible for the grade. Thanks Bos.

@1630Boston ... Very interesting.... However, being also a marble collector, I want to see what that kid has in the bag.... Cheers, RickO
I like the idea, but I could never have just five coins in a type set... and "wallet-flattening" is a good description for any 1793 1/2 Cent (Left facing) with a readable date!

For you, Ricko. In 1909 my Grandfather Paris had a garden and each year he placed a marble in the garden for luck. He later married my Grandmother Lillie and it became a tradition. Well, I now live in their house that I was born in and sure enough every year in our garden(while we did not carry on their tradition) we would find a marble or two when we plowed and tilled the garden. I have kept them in a jar since. I was never a marble collector, but played marbles as a kid and had my own bag of marbles with a steelie and a biggie and others with names I can't remember. We even fried marbles so they would burst when they struck another. Bored was a way of life until you told an adult you were bored. Only once. lol

@jesbroken... Great story, never heard of that tradition. Never fried marbles either. Playing marbles was a springtime tradition when I grew up... several different games in the school yard going on, and most guys had a bag of marbles in their pocket or satchel. Oh yeah, and I was never bored as a kid.... always stuff to do. Cheers, RickO
Neat article @1630Boston, pretty sure I have seen this idea here before and actually anyone that has completed a 7070 type set has also completed this. Still a fun endeavor for many and a very completable set for collectors of all levels.

This thread needs some coins
The odd denominations have always been intriguing to me. They have interesting origin stories and they’re just “different”. Plus you’ve got some copper, nickel and silver.
Here are my coins that would comprise the five coin set in OP’s post. I think the weakest link is the 3c silver—nice coin with partial cameo (& CAC approval), but I’d love one with some color.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Wow! This is fabulous! Great seeing them too!

Yep, here too. I remember Cat's Eyes, Moonies, and the big ones we called Boulders.
Impressive set

I love your 1804 pl4 stemless, been trying to trade a jeff nickel set for the 04 pl4 w/stems with no luck currently.
This is a great idea and look forward to the fun.

Are they going to do this set?
They would need to make 12 sets to accommodate all the possibilities if they added CAC only sets as well

I forget who had this set listed in Coins Magazine back in the 80's, possibly earlier, and referred to it as "Odd Denominations or Types"...along with other Type Sets.

Arguably, the trade dollar is a bit of an odd denomination when one looks at the fact that it wasn't always exactly a dollar.
