2023 ASE Proof Received

USPS just delivered my ASE subscription. Outer box much more securely taped then in recent years. Mint added an image to the ASE box, guess they had to justify the added cost, $80.
I keep telling myself to cancel the subscription but for some reason never do.

Dang the mint must be working overtime to get that far ahead!

I agree the packaging has gotten cheaper and cheaper. Many of the world mints do a much better job at this.

    Many happy BST transactions

I cancelled my subscription, but the Mint shipped it. I cancelled the day before and the Mint said that you have to cancel 3 days prior to the release. Box remains unopened, still deciding....

With the way inflation is going, it will be $80MM a coin by then.

I have also received mine from the mint. I have to say it’s a cool box. The coin itself it always beautiful.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Yah. I’ve been down that road. Just open it. The return process is lengthy. I was reminded by the nice person on the phone that they did print it out fairly clear, that any changes to enrollments needs to be done at least three days before.
Sorry and a return is possible I just couldn’t bring myself to fib about why I was returning it.

If unopened you can take it to the post office or give it to the mail carrier, telling them to refuse delivery. They mark refused on the box and It goes back to the mint without need for calls or return process, and processes reasonably quickly.

They might not ship to that address again and may put you on the no fly list

They are a beautiful coin....No doubt about that. I have others that I purchased over the years, but stopped the series the year they skipped an issue. Cheers, RickO

I have about 10 years of a complete collection. It really is a beautiful coin. I don’t really care about the box, it’s the prize inside! With a few exceptions the whole collection is probably worth about what I paid for them, but you all know the collection addiction……..

Mine arrived yesterday and survived the inadequate packaging in the outer box. Of course then it must be adequate, but does not feel that way. One down, one to go when the San Francisco version comes out.

  • coastaljerseyguycoastaljerseyguy Posts: 1,446 ✭✭✭✭✭

That sounds like the package I received last year. Anyone in the USPS could have removed the coin since the box's ends are folded in, and it had no tape around it. The coin could have been removed and the package wouldn't have looked tampered with. This year I had the extra mailing tape all around.

  • I just got mine and love it. I think this is the first proof ASE I have bothered to get from the mint in years. No regrets.

My enrollment is sitting in processing hell as well. Oh well, it’s just cardboard rapped around a proof ase 😁. ( I went all in and bought the congratulations set).
