What grade do you think this ICG coin would cross at PCGS?

I saw this coin for sale in an ICGS Holder and wanted to know what grade it would crossover at PCGS in your opinions.

It’s hard to say without larger and cleaner photos of the obverse, but I’m confident saying the coin won’t be a 67.

Don’t want go there lol. Years ago I tried crossing a few ICG coins at PCGs - result mostly downgrades.

The coin is a low end 67, from the photos if cracked out it has a 50/50 chance of getting a 67 grade at PCGS. As a crossover the chances of an at grade crossover is very low. This is a very common date for the 30's range, if you want one in P plastic just look for one in P plastic, much easier and likely cheaper in the long run. If your goal is to buy to grade and flip then pay your quarter and take your chances.

I might have a very different opinion if viewed in hand, either way.

The old ICG was irregular in my experience, very tight on some coins and loose on others. I'm not sure who reviews crossovers at PCGS but Jeff Howard is a top notch finalizer. I'm curious if the new ICG has any internal records on the grading of the previous version when JP Martin, Keith Love, and Walt Armitage were doing the grading.

I'm in with the 66RD group.

It’s a $125 to $150 coin in a PCGS holder. It’s a waste of money and time trying to cross it. Even if you could buy it for 50 cents on the dollar and it crosses (which may be unlikely) you haven’t increased the value of the coin after grading expenses and shipping.

    I recommend at least a second thought.😉

The coin looks to be approximately MS66RD.

I like to grade it without looking at what the others graded it and then still go with my first impression and add that as a disclaimer of sorts rather than change my opinion when I see that I’m probably wrong when the experts have a different opinion.

That sounds like a good, objective way to arrive at a grading opinion.👍

A MS66RD grade seems about right.

Hopefully you weren't wondering this, but the GC listing stating it is a proof is incorrect. The coin is quite obviously not a proof.

I am not liking the Rim dent on the rev...65 IMHO.

Yes I thought it was a proof till I saw the coin had a MS 67 sticker and didn’t have proof surfaces

Save your money. PCGS not going to give you 67 RD. But not a bad looking coin by any means. Not a fan of spots on bu coins. This coin has none that I can see. I would leave it in ICG holder if my coin and simply think of it as gem uncirculated. $35-$40 coin. $50 would be a stretch, imo.

I'm MS 65 red. The chatter behind Lincoln's head and a couple marks on his coat.

My quick gut feeling is MS65RD.
