First real macro test: my new VDB proof

Somehow acquired from Larry Shapiro out of his personal collection on Thursday at the ANA. Says he’s focusing on his Mint State set. Oh well.
I did leave the ISO on auto, and set the white balance to 3200K, the temperature of the bulbs in my copy stand. I think the exposure is a little higher on the reverse shot, but it all looks very accurate. All in all, extremely stoked about how easy it seems to capture great shots with this modern tech.

That's a nice coin and the photo shows the details well. My read of the photo (correct me if I'm wrong) is that in hand the coin is a bit brighter, and I think playing with the lights a bit would get you there.
What "modern tech" are you using? Great pics, BTW!!!
Rocking my "shiny-object-syndrome"!!!
I love the image. Even if the coin is a tad lighter in hand this setting shows the luster much better and details are wonderful

Airplanenut yes, I’m hand the coin is a bit brighter. It looks full red even though designated RB. Here’s one there’s no question. Old friend, new photo:

Lighting is tricky. I moved the camera a lot closer and now am blocking more light. Gotta figure that out. Maybe a move my light mounts 🤷🏻♂️
And my “modern tech” is this awesome new SLR body from Nikon. So easy to use. Love the touchscreen.

@renomedphys... That is a very nice cent and a great picture.... Captures the details nicely. Cheers, RickO
Great & great
That last pic you're showing is of the superb nature.
VERY well done. Yes, lighting is your friend when it comes to macro photography. I use 2,150-watt daylight for my imaging.
Have fun as that's the most important thing and take your time.
