Club Level grading times?

I sent my 8 "Collector Club Voucher" coins in for grading. They were received on Feb 8th 2023. Does anyone know, how long this will be? I do expect some delay with the coin show in Vegas and the Money show in Phoenix. It says they are scheduled for grading for the last 2 weeks. Just curious if anyone knows?
Thanks John

My 1/23/23 submission of Collector Club Voucher coins is in Imaging. So maybe 6 weeks?

The PCGS Estimated Submission Turnaround times for “Regular” service is 10 weeks. There’s no difference if you use the vouchers or normal payment.

I submitted 11 including 8 vouchers that were received on 1/27. They went to encapsulation yesterday. This is my first submission since the early 90's, so I am not sure how much longer it is at this point. I'm patiently waiting as long as they get it right. ;)

If you have the PCGS Account app and scroll to the bottom, they provide the estimated turn-around time for services:

Unless things have changed drastically at PCGS in the last few weeks, you should be getting your coins back within 45 days of PCGS receiving them. That's what happened with my submission on collector club voucher, coins received by PCGS for grading on December 22. And they managed to get the job done in a timely way over the Christmas/New Year's holiday. Needless to say, I am impressed. ;)

A large factor on turnaround times that is rarely mentioned is coin type. Moderns tend to be quicker. If you have a less common coin or have requested variety attribution then the grading will typically be slower.

EDIT - Moderns for my intent here is roughly 20th century although for the Modern & Modern Value service times quoted above Franklins, Mercs, etc would not be considered moderns.

Since 2020, I no longer even check for 2 months and I don't expect the TV's for 30-45 days after grades in and coin received. I'm sending 4 coins on Mon/Tues next week and will not check on them until 2nd week of May. I'm serious, nothing worse than a day by day disappointment. JMO

Starting at week 3 after coins indicated as received by PCGS, I started checking once a week on my order. Everything completed by week 6 except for shipment which was indicated that I had received the coins but in fact I had not. I was a little concerned about this but called PCGS Customer Service and was told it was a glitch in the system. I learned from the polite, helpful lady at Customer Service that my coins would be delivered to me by FedEx and that's what happened a few days later. 45 days from received to back in my hands. Truviews were visible before I called Customer Service about shipment of my order.

Then TV's have truly improved for the last 3 orders over the last year have taken 30-45 days after grades posted to get the TV's. Hooray. Look forward now to the new order.
    Thanks for the info,
    Jim

My personal experience is that turnaround times are a random walk with no known statistical distribution. I recently submitted two Economy submissions at the same time - one took 45 days and the other took 115 days.

Slightly off topic, just got my new vouchers for the year, and I have some raw coins, and some coins for crossover consideration at the Whitman show in Baltimore. Vouchers cannot be used for crossover, correct?

Also, procedurally, should I fill out the submission paperwork prior to the show and just drop them off at the PCGS booth, or is everything filled out on site?

  • 1madman1madman Posts: 1,520 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yes, you can do crossovers with your vouchers (I did 8 crossovers for my vouchers a few weeks ago).

Yes fill out the paperwork now and get it over with so you can just hand it to pcgs at the show.
