Pareidolia or paranoia

    That's part of the fur texture - a normal design detail on all buffalo nickels. You are seeing it as a "2" due to pareidolia.

    Before getting into coin collecting I never had heard the term Pareidolia, but now I seem to see it everywhere.

    Understanding pareidolia shall free you to concentrate on finding actual errors. It builds confidence, expands ones knowledge and prevents unnecessary arguments. Works great on tough stains too!
