Side-by-side comparison of 1879-CC Morgans

Here's a new side-by-side between my original XF40 79-CC CAC and an upgrade to AU53. I've also included the TV for the AU53 for comparison. Feel free to comment and as always, thanks for looking!
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Hands down AU53 is much nicer. Congrats on the upgrade!

Nice upgrade!I have a 79-CC to that could use an upgrade someday but they really get expensive in higher grades as you must know. This is my lowest graded CC dollar but I am happy just to have one.

Very nice upgrade!

Your first photos are impressive.
Cool.
Really good pictures. I misunderstood your post initially... I thought you submitted the first coin for reconsideration and got an upgrade. Looking at the pictures I thought, no way the same coin... then looked at your text again, and realized you 'upgraded' your collection.
Nice upgrade on a tough coin. Cheers, RickO
They are both really nice coins as some of the 79-CC's can be less than appealing IMO.
Gonna be tough to part with the 40 CAC
Nice upgrade on a tough date. Your photos are super clear and reflect the circulation scuff so common on dollars. Interesting how TV blends/washes them out.
Excellent coin. That is a nice set you are building.
Seeing the two side-by-side in their holders, I'd personally lean toward the XF-40 CAC. Now, I'm not seeing them in hand, nor blown up showing just the coins, so YMMV. But, even though the XF-45 obviously exhibits more luster, some nice toning, and slightly better defined details, my eye is drawn more to the XF-40. In the side-by-side comparison pic, it appears that 45 has quite a bit more nicks and chatter on the cheek and the field in front of the face which is distracting to me, making me lean toward the 40. I honestly believe both of them would have a chance to upgrade on the right day with the right person reviewing, if resubmitted. I'd be more confident that the 40 could go to 45, though, than the 45 getting a 50.
Each has their own thoughts on what makes a more beautiful coin. And, in hand, it may be more obvious that the 45 has more eye appeal. @anablep - if you are happier looking at one over the other, keep that one. Or, keep them both! I think you have two very nice coins there and you should be happy to have them! Good job!!!
