Coin show purchase: 1927-S SLQ for my Library of Coins album

ElmerFusterpuckElmerFusterpuck Posts: 4,627 ✭✭✭✭✭

Went to our local coin show on 02/25/23 and found a nice run of Kennedys for my other LOC album (courtesy of @Maywood) . Along with that, I also found this 1927-S SLQ that goes in very well with the other quarters in my LOC album. I grade this coin a nice, original Fine. As with coin shows lately, this one was very well attended. From what I saw, the nicer coins in many series (raw or slabbed) seem to be drying up or getting much harder to find. Even raw $20's were hard to come by. But I enjoyed finding this one!

I think it looks great for a circulated SLQ. This is one of those issues where low grades are plentiful but anything above VG-Fine gets very difficult.

A nice example of the grade with a very bold date.

Very attractive coin! And sharp photos too, well done!

Outstanding pick up. That lady has just about the perfect look imo. Always glad to hear of another LOC fan filling up those old albums.

    I'm a little late to the party, but -- that's a great 27-S. Congratulations!

    I have concerns regarding authenticity.
The surface texture looks a little bit like all the recent Chinese copies that are not made of silver but have an aged silver look.
But the appearance could be due to quirks in the photography.

Does it stick to a magnet ?
Do you have a weight on it ?
