Tom, what’s the best/most efficient explanation to provide to the seller, in order to help him understand that it’s a copy?

Thee seller send a nice reply and was unaware that it was a counterfeit. They ended the listing.
Same here, but I’m trying to find the best way to let him know how we know.

I sent him some info but you may be able to give him some better info you at least it will reinforce what I was telling them.

Thank you for your effort to help this seller understand the problems with their coin.
I think this seller is being honest and got taken on this coin.
Thank you, as well. I sent something already, so hopefully, between the two of us, he’ll have peace of mind.
I try to put myself into the place of honest sellers, who don't know their listings are counterfeit, but are hearing from strangers that they are. I like to be able to give them a good answer to the question “How do you know/why should I believe you?”

I try to not be too quick to report an item if the sellers feedback and sold items don't show a pattern of a problem.
After years of contacting sellers you can kinda get a feel for the sellers that will be receptive to listen.
It doesn't help a seller understand when ebay ends their listing and gives no explanation why.
Thanks all. I had looked at his other listings and did not see any other problems, but I have been blocked by a few sellers with counterfeit or altered coins that I tried politely talking to and nowadays I just go straight to the report.
Nice work getting it removed. I do believe, honestly mistaken sellers, would appreciate knowing what details indicate a coin is fake. I also believe that many of the hoaxsters respond with nasty commentary. Cheers, RickO
The coin looks scrubbed and artificially toned. Is it a cast copy or false dies?
I am sure that it is die struck from fake dies. Not sure what technique was used to make the fake dies. There is so much loss of detail it almost looks like an old spark-erosion die from the 1960's or 70's, but I just don't know.
That loss of detail is the most eye-grabbing reason as to why this piece is n/g.
It's got that mushy look to it.
It's not even a good fake, as the PUPS aren't there.
