Can anyone explain this ebay policy - trying to sell a PCGS sample!

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that somebody probably made a mistake.

I’m guessing they think “Sample” means “Copy”.

That's not actually a filter ebay uses. But someone could have flagged it.
I wasn’t necessarily thinking of a filter.

That's usually one of two ways they find problem listings: word filters and 3rd party reporting.
I can live with that.

People constantly complain about what gets listed on eBay. eBay tries to do something about it. Complaints ensue.
Is that about right?
The execution is what matters, "Trying" doesn't count for much.

So they should stop trying?
edited to add... Because whatever they do, it's going to be automated, and therefore imperfectly implemented. Listings are not going to be reviewed by human beings before they go live no matter what anyone would like to have happen.
edited once again... The message in the alert in the first post looks suspiciously like it was based on some sort of contact eBay received from the Bank of Canada. It might be helpful to know what that might have been as it likely had something to do with how eBay responded to the issue. JMO...
There is a word in the title (which you do not show) that they do not like. I have not had problems selling sample slabs in the category of the coin. Maybe the initials RCNA ? All of mine have been USA, maybe Canadian Mint has more pull with eBay.
It is a word he used as I've run into a similar message before. Words like "replica" or "reproduction" sometimes bring up a flag depending on the category. I have not seen "sample" trigger anything but maybe in combination with something in the Canadian category it does.
@Lakesammman what was your title?
I did a test case.
This title gave me the same error code as the OP:
This one let me list the item:

@MasonG I agree with some of your points, but I don't want to derail this thread so I'm going to reply in another thread that I bump and tag you in.

Looks like the wording in the title caused the rejection. Reword or call customer service for clarification. Cheers, RickO
Good luck...

Hope this isn't "derailing" the topic. Some years ago, I listed a SEGS coin on E-Bay; unaware of the rule that the initials SEGS can not appear in the photo. If I recall correctly, I was dutifully and politely notified that the listing "didn't pass muster" and it was pulled. OK. I'm good with that., having had a prior unfortunate experience with SEGS. However, if you search SEGS now on E-Bay, listings abound. Did the rule change allowing SEGS listings on eBay?
I can't understand why the 2015 Canada half was "banned" either, Lakesammman.

Follow this link and under the pic, hit 'sell now', just change the number of year in title

That's not quite the rule.

This is why people show full holder pictures but mask the grade.

Relisted it as a US 50c Sample and it quickly sold.
Did include RCNA in the title.
Didn't have "replica" or anything similar in the original listing.
Try listing it as a Junior Sample!
