@lilolme - Thank you for combining the D mint TV with TomB's D mint auction image. They do compare well!
My secondary reason for asking - As one member mentioned "conserved" and another "dipped", I was hoping to see before and after pictures. But alas, IMO, the S mint TV and the S mint up for auction are not the same coin...
I find it peculiar that you find it amusing. @Higashiyama pointed it out first, and while @TomB did provide irrefutable evidence, all one needed was the pictures in the very first post. The TrueView clearly shows a D mintmark, and the label states that that the coin in question is a 1936-S, which was proven to be true. So maybe it was obvious to some of us that were paying attention, even if we were late to the party...
To be truthful, I really did believe the TrueView showed a S mintmark. I studied it again many times after others said it was a D mintmark. My eyesight appears to be getting worse. It was not until TomB went to the source for the images and blew up both the GC and TrueView pictures that it became clear. GC image on the top and TrueView on the bottom-
That why we have this friendly coin forum to discuss coins.

You can see from TomB post of the previous GC auction of the D mint coin and how it compares to the TV which is the TV S mint coin in my post above as it has a D mint photo. These two compare fairly well.
TomB D mint photo
The TV for the S mint which is actually the D mint.
Looks like the TV cert and the slab cert are off by 1.

I don't buy much from Great Collections but have learned not to "risk" buying anything based only on their images --- AND --- absent an opportunity to check a TrueView.
Actually the GC photos are accurate here and accurate in general.
The problem here is that the TrueView retrieved for the cert number is incorrect.
I think the lesson is that nobody is really perfect and anyone can make a mistake.

No doubt this TrueView cert number error will be corrected soon.

It is often surprising how much difference there can be seen from two different photos and especially if they are not taken in the same manner with respect to lighting, camera, raw or slab and then the toning. I had looked at the images and thought they were the same coin. The obverse is more heavily toned and more difficult to find the points of interest so to say. Here are half of the reverse images from GC and the noted TV. I did half for size and there are more areas of interest on the other half (and some on the obverse but again much more difficult to see). I marked some areas of interest. Some show better than others. This is why I concluded they were the same coin.

Thanks, I had previously tagged PCGSPhoto but one more doesn't hurt. The cert to TV are off by one sort of. As per previous post the P (cert) has S (TV), the D has P, and the S has D. IIRC.

Perhaps @PCGSPhoto can help fix it?

Here is an example. First a MS65 and now a MS66. It was in a Gold Shied holder and received a CAC both times.

Ah, missed your first tag! More is better
@lilolme - Convincing. WOW what a difference! Again, appreciate your effort.
15 - 30 sec look.
NO not the same coin regarding the first post's question.
A correction for this cert will appear shortly.
