What makes a valuable die clash?

What makes a die clash worth a premium? Which ones is the best to hunt for? And is this considered value or damaged? As always, Thanks for the great advice.

Your coin does not have a die clash.

It helps with the value if it's very dramatic, there's only one known (likely terminal die state),
and at least 2 people want it a lot!
This 1838 V-10i sold for $1554 on ebay about 2 years ago.

This is an example of indirect die transfer, not a die clash.

The more promenant (easier) it is to see, usually, the more valuable it is. The ones that you can see without a magnifer are the best. I do not see a die clash on your coin. Proof coins with die clashes are usually quite valuable. You can check the eBay sold listings and find out about some. Die clashes being on both sides helps also. There is a 2017-P Lincoln cent with heavy die clashes.

I see no die clash on your cent. That being said, to answer your questions, if the clash is very visible (easily viewed without magnification), on both sides, it can command a good premium from that collector niche. Cheers, RickO

Your coin does not have a die clash but to answer your question:

Not all collectors like coins with die clashes. If you have one and want a premium for it you may be in for a long wait. As average collectors have become more and more priced out of the market for "nice" coins promotions have begun of things like minor varieties and minor errors. Many of these promoted markets are one-way affairs ... "I want to sell this to you for a premium but I don't pay any premiums to buy them."

    All glory is fleeting.
