Many threads here. MD is not in the die. There will not be consistent doubling. Try comparing your coin to known Doubled Dies, it must match EXACTLY or it is MD.

MD is flat and shelf like.

You could also Google "machine doubling versus doubled die"

That question is one of the most commonly asked questions here on the forum. And the proper term is 'Doubled' die..... Cheers, RickO

I'm not trying to be mean. Really.

    A "double die" is incorrect

DOUBLED die is the correct way to explain it.

Would machine doubling lessen the value/ grade of a coin if it were submitted to one of the grading companies?

Not automatically, but it can if the graders feel it has a negative effect on the eye appeal.

  • doubled die, got it.

  • so, not sure if it would be worth sending in, but this is the coin, I am referring to, I know they made a ton of them, but many weren't saved since they weren't silver
