I’m sure glad that I am used to starting or being knee deep in a series, that really has become an unwanted item. Dang it. I really don’t know anything but how much I don’t know. Stop, got a great idea, I’ll collect the type 2 congratulations sets, just as nobody cares. Their are pathetically still available. 😞

Don't panic just yet. It IS the single most popular coin in the world, and they ARE only making 40,000 in the packaging. Some people do care about the packaging, or the label. I am quite sure it will sell out once limits are lifted.
Whether it will carry a big premium in the future remains to be seen, but, if you like it, don't panic just yet. I don't think failure to sell 40K with a household limit of 3 necessarily means nobody cares. If it's still available next week, then you might be onto something.
@HoneyMarket said: 92,797 still available as of 8:30 am (EST).
Does the HHL get lifted at noon?? Surely these will sell out after that?
Maybe. If it’s a series I’m interested in, I doubt it will ever be sold out 😂
Have I ever discussed how many dang burnished ase’s ( with amazing low mintage) that I’m buried in. People just don’t like it. What’s not to like. MM , low mintage, it’s a dang limited edition ase. Graded examples selling for release money. Pretty happy about that 🤪

Paying $80+ for an ounce of modern silver that is valued at $21 seems obsurd. I don't particularly like the new reverse either.
Lots of things in the "collecting" world probably seem obsurd [sic] to lots of people. But it's not like we're paying tens of thousands of dollars for a Lincoln cent; this is not serious money, and some of us think the coins are pretty.
You're entitled (obviously) to spend your money as you see fit. But it is remarkably arrogant for you to condemn the (low-cost) choice of tens of thousands of people, just because you don't agree.

Yes, who is to argue with fools and their monies? I have been guilty more times than I know, especially of buying the schlock the mint passes off. I USED to slavishly buy the proof eagles and that has STOPPED - although I have continued to get the "limited" issues, or those with mintages of 125k or less. Even these are probably a waste. These are piled at the bottom of a closet, along with all of the US mint sets and proof sets that I cut off about 2013.
I guess what I don't understand is how the bulk buyers are able to process or handle 30k+ coins with the likely markups.....Who are these really going to (HSN buyers?).
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.

Only69,311 still available 10 mins after the HHL was lifted.
60,563 still available @ ~9:00 pm (EST)
60,634 still available today, two days after the initial sale and a day after the HHL was lifted.
Interesting how the number went up overnight...maybe there were some cancellations.
Some here on these forums have expressed their displeasure with the rise in prices. The spread between the cost of 1oz of silver, last years prices, and markup is significant. I am beginning to wonder if the price increase actually has had an impact and dissuaded sales of this issue?
I had 3 subscriptions for 1 each and all three boxes have been delivered. The 1st 2 boxes were delivered om 3/2/23 and the 3rd was delivered today 3/4/23. I will be keeping 1, I haven't decided what I will do with the other 2. I also got the Congratulation set for my daughter, she is finishing her degree in may. Prices are up and so is everything else too.

Yes. They are being graded and sold at huge markups, by everyone who gets bulk buying privileges at the Mint and then bulk submitter pricing at the TPGs. HSN, eBay, dealer websites, you name it. There is a huge market for MS70, SP70, and PR70 modern issues at significant premiums to the cost of acquisition and grading for anyone doing it in volume.
And just to mention the ole dead horse, ofcourse I’m long on the recent burnished ase’s. Low mintage and very unloved. When graded examples are available at mint release prices, I’m soooo foolish. 😂

Doubt it…. doubt it….doubt it!!!
I’m with you as far as maybe but reducing prices or lowering mintage is not in their nature.
Just one example. Last year the 3-roll woman’s quarters were $54. This year they are $60. Dang mint went back and raised the prices for the remaining release of the few available.
If that’s any indication, then the only chance they’ll change the mintage or price is little to none.
However, I'm hoping that having 50,000 coins sitting on a self at the distribution center and/or being melted down...might change their bureaucratic minds.
Actually, if somebody finds an error or a variety when their coins arrives...it would be interesting to see how fast it takes for those "unwanted" coins to leap off the shelves!!!

Correct! Prices are not going down, unless silver moves significantly lower on a sustained basis. If sales start declining, they will likely reduce announced mintages in order to meet demand. They are getting kind of smart about not leaving a ton of money on the table for fliipers by pricing far below what the market will bear, or leaving a ton of money on the table for themselves by producing far below demand.
The ideal for us as collectors is for them to make enough for us to actually be able to get what we want, and for them to limit mintages enough for there to be a secondary market. They might have stuck the right balance with the Morgan and Peace Dollars.
With ASEs, they might not care. They know they are popular, and just want to sell as many as they can for as much as they can.

Pathetic. Really reminding of the burnished ase’s and unloved as they are, these ain’t looking any better
Why do you say this, given that they have sold several hundred thousand, including Congratulations Sets and bulk sales?
Moreover, given that there is no stated mintage limit, why are you so sure they wouldn't just make more if the they actually sold the remaining 56K still available?
Why pathetic? These are far from unloved. They are $21 worth of silver selling for $80, with hundreds of thousand sold. If you are defining "loved" as something where the Mint limits the mintage to half as many as they could sell, and then sells out in 10 minutes, those days are apparently over, as the Mint has seemingly chosen to both maximize revenue and meet demand.
No. Your correct about these. I’m sorry. 👍🏼 Truth is…
I’m just very jaded and petty and bitter as hell about the burnished ase’s. Sometimes I don’t accept responsibility very well and wind up projecting my failures on to other things.
the Royal Australian Mint uses a similar procedure. It issues some coins that have extremely limited mintages, particularly, in gold. To get one of these, you have to ask for it well in advance of its issue date, have an existing account, and may or may not get one of the coins by a lottery. In particular, they have a 1/5 ounce gold coin presently being offered by way of lottery, with the message of only 1000. if this were a US coin, with a mintage 1000, it would be gone in a second. What would the price be after issuance by the mint on the secondary market?

We've all been there. FWIW, I also like the burnished, due to the mint mark and the low mintages, and always buy a few just in case they ever catch on.
For some reason, people pay premiums for mint attribution on bullion that does not have mint marks, but ignore these. I can only guess it's because, if it does not have multiple strikes and deep mirrors, it is not deemed to be worth a big premium.
@NJCoin
Thanks, I hope the burnished ase’s become more popular. Maybe, with the prices going through the roof on everything else , they will be looked at in a different light. It really bothers me when I see them selling certified examples for original mint release prices. Or within a few dollars of it.

69s or 70s? I suspect you are talking about 69s. If so, please don't stress about it.
The reality is that the difference between 69s and 70s for modern coins are miniscule, and really kind of irrelevant, since all modern collector coins are minted to a very high standard. Nevertheless, telemarketers have hyped the crap out of 70s, and the distinction has caught on, with 70s commanding premiums.
As a result, the economics for the dealers dictate them creating 70s, because they are where the money is. If a coin is not a 70, it's a 69, which is nothing special. As a result, a 69 commands no premium to a raw coin. It is merely the by-product of the 70 manufacturing process.
Now, if you are talking about 70s going for release prices, with 69s and raw selling at a big discount, that's another story entirely. But if it's just 69s not carrying a premium to raw, it's because they don't deserve one. Just about any modern collector coin that is not a 70 is a 69, and a plastic slab is not inherently more valuable than OGP for a modern coin.
