1988 Wide AM Lincoln variety name change at PCGS

ManorcourtmanManorcourtman Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭✭✭

I don't know if anyone else noticed this change but PCGS now calls the 1988 FS-901 variety Flared G, FS-901. I think it is better than Wide AM but I like the NGC name which is Reverse of 89. Calling it Wide AM has caused mass confusion since all 1988 Lincolns have a wide or wider AM reverse. This is one tough variety btw!!!

    Hmmm?
    Did not know this?
As a matter of fact, I sent in such a variety about 80 days ago. I should be hearing from PCGS, any day now?
This will be interesting to find out what is placed on my holder!

That makes sense, since on that variety, the flared G is really the determining factor. Cheers, RickO

The only thing is if the new description were to be on the holder, instead of the traditional one, the coin might seem to NOT have the real variety?
I rather have the "Wide am" description.
I wonder if we get that option?

About time. I can remember finding one and thinking cool a wide AM then finding all were wide AM's.

I am just re shooting all my cents and saw that yesterday . Makes sense to me. And of course all the 1988 cents being sold on eBay will now be listed as Flared G along with every other date....Just saying.

I've managed only one flared G (63RB) but that was a cool feeling, Now I just need one in MS68.

Actually, the variety is a 1988-D.
