1964 D/D RPM found?

Hello all, I believe I've found a 1964 D/D RPM nickel, but I'm not completely sure and I was told to post here to get some more insight. I provided the best pictures I could. I also included a closeup of another 1964-D nickel mint mark, showing how the normal mint mark is much thinner than the one I found. I just want to get some more opinions before I go ahead and do anything with this. I appreciate any responses.

  • P.S: I already took this to my local coin shop and all they said was "that's definitely an unusual mint mark" but they weren't able to definitively tell if this was a recognized RPM, even after doing a bit of research themselves.

There are a few known RPM's for this date/mm, but yours doesn't seem to match any that I can see. What I'm seeing are signs of die deterioration.

Looks like die erosion to me. ;)

Edited to add: Welcome to the forum! :)

@KMKefri.... Welcome aboard. It does not match the one in the CPG (Cherry Pickers Guide)... Certainly something going on... perhaps as mentioned above, some die erosion. Cheers, RickO
