1847 N-38 Large Cent MS63BN CAC with a great provenance back to Henry Hines! My birthday present!

You only turn 60 once so I went shopping tonight for a special gift.
This coin is beautiful and does upgrade my current 1847. However it is the coins story that made it the perfect gift to myself. She started her life in the hands of Henry Hines. Hines started collecting Large Cents in 1911. While the exact year he acquired this particular coin is not known it was part of his incredible collection of Late Date Large Cents that according to Dr. Sheldon numbered 3500 coins of which 300 were Proofs. Amazing! Hines is best known for purchasing the finest known 1799 Large Cent from Wayte Raymond in 1928 for $2500, a record price that stood for more than a quarter century.
Her next owner was Willard Blaisdell. Blaisdell began collecting Large Cents in 1933 and was a Charter Member of the EAC. Blaisdell purchased many Large Cents from Hines for his collection. Blaisdell sold his Large Cent collection, with the help of well known dealer Del Bland to none other than R.E. "Ted" Naftzger in 1977.
Ultimately she found her way to my good friend Colonel Ellsworth. This coin is my third from Colonel Steve's collection. I am positive he enjoyed her not only for her looks but her travels as well. Maybe one day the RLSnapper name will be added to the many great names who have had the pleasure of her company!
