2023 West Point Silver Eagle

Received my PCGS First Strike Silver Eagle today, and there is an obvious defect on the reverse. It looks like a hit with debris in the die on the lower part of the right wing. Any scuttlebutt out there on anything similar?

Nice strike through. What’s the grade, and if you’d like to sell how much are you asking? PM me if you’d like.
MS 69, don’t want to sell until I find out if, or what I got.
@Jd2112 ... Welcome aboard. Better pictures (close ups) of the affected area would help. I appears you have what is called a 'struck through'... Where debris is caught between the planchet and die, causing an indentation, and sometimes it is retained. This could command a small premium with some collectors. Cheers, RickO
Thank you RickO. Kinda new to collection, if I remove it from the case, does it affect the grading? Would I need to get it re-graded?
An in focus photo of the reverse is needed. In any case, do not remove it from the holder.
Yes. Please leave it.
Welcome.
You would have to send it in again. Wait for more responses and perhaps you’ll get an answer.

Even from the blurry photos, looks like a decent strike through or lamination. @ctf_error_coins should be along shortly with a prognosis. And perhaps a clever nickname?

These go on sale tomorrow - yet you have one today and already graded??
That's not a proof he has.
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
It’s a roll edition. “ Struck at. “ No W mM that these old eyes can see
Proofs available today 😀

@Jd2112... Definitely do not remove it from the slab. You can resubmit it to get the designation - an additional fee will be required. Cheers, RickO
Went to check the app and this screen was locked in. We’ll see what’s up. I have never received a good answer on how their waiting room works

All better. No change yet. Thought this seemed early but last I spoke with them they said they were not sure when to begin the line 😂

Assuming a "struck-through" error, here is some info from PCGS.
Edited to Add:
As other posters have indicated, it would be inadvisable for you to remove this coin from the current 'slab/holder'. This is the case as you would automatically lose your First Strike and (W) designations.
At 5 minutes til I get this
After auto refresh 😳
A short 1 minute plus waiting time, I proceeded to a very relaxing check out (10 minutes allowed) I was all done. 😀
I’m shocked at how well that worked 🙀
One congratulations set only 😁

Maybe a title edit (W), bullion, "question" " possible error" would keep this from being confused with the newly released proof W ASE.
